Kraft Inserts and Dividers for Kits, Jars and Stock
Four brown kraft styles built around what sits inside the box. They hold glass apart, give each item in a kit its own slot and keep a stockroom shelf in order.

Most breakages happen when things move. A jar slides into a corner, two bottles knock together, or a small part ends up at the bottom of a kit.
An insert stops that by holding each item in a cut-out shaped to it. A divider does the same job with a grid of card walls. Both turn a plain box into a set.
For gift sets and kits, the usual starting point is kraft mailer boxes with fitted inserts.
How do the four styles compare?
Each style solves a slightly different problem, from a kit that should look neat on opening to a shelf you need to pick from quickly.
| Style | Best for | How items sit | A common starting size (mm) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Kraft Mailer Boxes with Inserts | Kits, sets and fragile items | Each item in a cut-out | About 250 × 180 × 70 |
| Kraft Box Dividers | Separating items inside a box | Grid of card cells | About 300 × 200 × 150 for six cells |
| Kraft Bottle and Jar Packs | Glass jars and bottles in transit | Each jar or bottle in its own cell | About 300 × 200 × 120 for six jars |
| Kraft Bin Boxes | Shelves, stockrooms and counters | Open front for picking | About 150 × 300 × 110 |
Sizes are only a guide. Dividers can also go into a box you already use, and kraft box dividers in cell grids show the common layouts.
How do you plan an insert layout?
Good inserts start with the items, not the box. Get the layout right on a table first and the outer box size follows from it.
- Lay out the items on a table the way you want the customer to see them.
- Measure each item and the gaps you want between them.
- Decide which items need a cut-out and which can sit in a shared bay.
- Add finger notches where an item is hard to lift out.
- Send us the sizes and a photo of the layout.
Your free proof shows the insert drawn to these sizes, so you can check every hole before anything is cut. Cut lines and crease lines look alike at first, and kraft box artwork and dielines tells them apart.
Which pack suits glass jars and bottles?
Glass needs its own cell. A pack with a card wall between each jar stops them touching, and the outer box takes any knocks from the side.
Take jars across the lid, and bottles at both the shoulder and the cap. Jam makers, sauce sellers and drinks brands use these for both posting and gift sets.
See kraft bottle and jar packs for single jar, two bottle, six jar and twelve jar layouts.
In the post, a jar pack works best with clear space above the caps and below the flaps.
Are bin boxes useful for small shops?
Yes. A bin box has an open front so you can see and pick what is inside, which suits stockrooms, counter displays and pick shelves for online orders.
They also make a tidy counter display at a market, with the open front facing the customer and your logo on the side panel.
- Narrow bins for labels, cards or small spares.
- Standard bins for soaps, socks or packets.
- Wide bins for bulkier stock.
- Divided bins that keep two lines apart on one shelf.
A row of open-front kraft bin boxes printed with one colour labels keeps a stockroom easy to read.
Which board is used for inserts?
Inserts and dividers are usually brown kraft folding board, which slots together cleanly. Corrugated kraft is used where the insert needs more cushion or depth.
We name a board for each divider and insert on the quote; a white-lined version is available on request when it shows. Slotting card and cushioning flutes are compared in our guide to kraft board grades.
Divider walls slot together through half-height cuts, so a grid of twelve or twenty-four cells packs flat and goes together in a minute.
How to order inserts and dividers
Send the outer box size if you already have one, or the sizes of the items if you need the whole pack. Insert and divider jobs start at £0.25 a unit on the written quote, and the count you need is priced per order.
After the free proof is approved, production takes 4–6 business days. Grids, jar packs and bins travel flat; the free tracked UK courier takes 2–3 business days.
Should an insert be misprinted, wrongly cut or damaged, send photos inside 10 days and it is reprinted or refunded.

Questions About Kraft Inserts and Dividers
Straight answers from the people who cut and print the boxes. Open any question to read the reply.
Can I order dividers for a box I already have?
Yes. Send the inside size of your box and the number of cells you need, and we cut the dividers to fit.
What is the difference between an insert and a divider?
An insert is a single piece with cut-outs shaped to each item. A divider is a grid of card walls that creates square cells.
Can an insert hold items of different shapes?
Yes. Each cut-out is drawn to its own item, so a jar, a tube and a card can share one insert.
Do inserts come fitted inside the box?
Inserts arrive flat alongside the boxes, and you fold or slot them in as you pack.
Can dividers be printed?
Yes, though most are left plain. Print on an insert works well when the customer sees it on opening.
How many cells can a divider have?
As many as fit the box. Four, six, twelve and twenty-four cell layouts are common starting points.
Can a jar pack hold jars of two sizes?
Yes. Cells can be cut to different sizes in one pack, as long as we know each jar's size.
Are bin boxes delivered flat?
Yes. They fold up into an open-front bin without glue.
Can bin boxes have a label space on the front?
Yes. A printed panel or a clear space for your own label can go on the front lip.
Do I need an insert for a single bottle?
Not always. A carton cut close to the bottle often holds it well. Inserts help when the box is larger or goes in the post.
Can a mailer insert have a finger notch?
Yes. A notch beside a cut-out makes small items easy to lift out.
Which kraft insert works for a candle and matches?
A two-bay insert or divider gives the jar one space and the matches another, so they never touch.
