Who buys kraft boxes for clothing?
Small clothing labels, print-on-demand shops, knitwear makers and shirt tailors. Accessory sellers use the smaller sizes for bow ties, socks and scarves.
The aim is the same in each case: the garment arrives folded the way you folded it, not rolled into a ball in a bag.
Brown kraft also flatters fabric. Denim, linen, grey marl and natural knits all sit well against it, and a white tissue layer gives a clean edge between box and garment.
These boxes sit in our kraft mailer and shipping boxes range alongside plain and printed mailers.
Which clothing box style should I choose?
Our photos show three shapes. Each one opens differently, so pick the one that matches how the garment reaches the customer.
| Style | How it opens | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Tuck-front mailer | Hinged lid with a tongue that tucks into the front wall | Posting tees and sweatshirts straight to customers |
| Flip-lid box | Deep lid hinged at the back, folds down over the base | Shirts and gift sets handed over in a shop |
| Folder with band | Front flap folds over the garment; a paper band holds it | A folded shirt shown on a shelf or table |
| Small accessory mailer | Tuck-front lid on a low base | Bow ties, socks, pocket squares, scarves |
What size box fits a folded T-shirt?
A standard adult tee folded to retail size is roughly 260 × 200 mm flat and 20 to 30 mm thick. A box about 280 × 220 × 50 mm gives it room without slack.
Shirts folded around a backing card need more length, about 330 × 250 × 70 mm. Chunky knits need depth, so about 350 × 280 × 100 mm is a common start.
Fold the garment the way you sell it, measure the folded stack, and send us those numbers. We treat these sizes as guidance and cut to yours.
Not sure where to measure? Our guide to measuring a kraft box walks through it.
Does a clothing box need corrugated or folding board?
If the box goes through the post on its own, brown kraft corrugated is the better choice. The flutes protect the folded edges of the garment from knocks.
If the box is handed over in a shop or travels inside another carton, brown kraft folding board is lighter and gives a smoother print surface.
Prefer a white inside behind your tissue? Ask us for white-lined kraft.
How should I print on a kraft clothing box?
Clothing brands tend to keep print small and let the brown board carry the look. A black logo on the lid, a thin border, or a one-colour line drawing all suit kraft well.
On the folder style, the paper band is a good place for the size, colour and style name. Change the band and the same box works for every product line.
Keep the inside in mind too. A printed line under the lid, such as a care tip or a thank-you, is seen at the moment the tissue is opened.
- Lid logo in black ink for a clean, simple look
- A thin printed frame around the lid edge
- Care instructions printed inside the lid
- A size and style label on the end panel for stockrooms
Can I fit tissue or an insert in a clothing box?
Yes. Leave about 5 mm of extra depth for tissue paper and a sticker. Tell us if you plan to use it so we can allow for it in the height.
Card inserts are available as an option for accessories. A slotted card can hold a bow tie or a folded scarf in the centre of a small box.
Should clothing boxes be posted or handed over?
Decide this first, because it changes the board and the closure. A box that travels alone through the post needs corrugated walls and a lid that locks. A box handed across a counter can be lighter and show off more.
Many labels use both. A printed folder box holds the shirt, and a plain mailer carries the folder box to the customer. The inner box arrives clean and the outer one takes the knocks.
If you only want one box, the tuck-front mailer in corrugated is the safe all-rounder. It posts on its own and still opens neatly at home.
Can one box size cover several garments?
Sometimes. A T-shirt box can often take a long-sleeve top and a pair of leggings if they fold to the same footprint. Depth is usually what changes, not length and width.
Try folding your three bestsellers to the same width and length. If they match, one footprint with two depths may cover the whole range, which keeps your stock of boxes simple.
Send us the folded sizes of each garment and we will suggest the fewest sizes that still pack neatly.
How do I pack a garment into a kraft clothing box?
- Fold the garment to the size you measured, using a backing card for shirts.
- Fold the box into shape and line the base with tissue if you use it.
- Lay the garment flat with the front facing up toward the lid.
- Wrap the tissue over and seal it with a small sticker.
- Close the lid or folder flap and add the band or label.
For posting, add a strip of tape across the front of a mailer-style box and put the label on the lid.
Which mistakes make clothing arrive creased?
Creases mostly come from a box that is too small in one direction. A garment pushed into a short box bends at the hem and the shoulders.
- Measuring the garment flat on a table rather than folded
- Using one box depth for tees and jumpers alike
- Ignoring the extra length a shirt collar needs
- Forgetting to allow for tissue and a card
When you sell several items in one order, compare this box with our kraft shipping boxes for larger orders.

Questions About Kraft Clothing Boxes
Straight answers from the people who cut and print the boxes. Open any question to read the reply.
Can a kraft clothing box take two folded T-shirts?
Yes, if we cut it for two. Measure both tees folded and stacked together and send that height as the inside depth.
Do you make kraft boxes for hoodies?
Yes. Hoodies need more depth than tees, so measure one folded with the hood tucked in. A box around 100 mm deep is a common start.
Can the band on a folder-style clothing box be printed?
Yes. The band can carry your logo, a size or a style name, and we print it separately so you can swap it between product lines.
Do kraft clothing boxes have a window option?
A die-cut window on the lid is available, with or without film, so a colour or print on the garment can show through.
Will a flip-lid clothing box stay closed on its own?
The deep lid sits down over the base by its own weight. Add a sticker or a band if you want it fixed shut for handover.
Can I use a kraft clothing box for baby clothes?
Yes. Baby clothes fold small, so a box near our accessory or T-shirt size usually fits. Send the folded size of the bundle you sell.
Should a clothing box be printed inside for a gift brand?
Inside print works well for gift brands because the lid lifts like a cover. A short message or pattern inside adds a moment without changing the outside.
Can kraft clothing boxes be made for socks and ties?
Yes. The small accessory mailer suits socks, ties, bow ties and pocket squares, and a card insert can hold the item centred.
Is corrugated kraft too thick for a slim clothing box?
Corrugated adds a little to the outside size but protects folds in the post. For slim handover boxes, folding board keeps the profile thinner.
Can I label each clothing box with the size inside?
Yes. A small printed area on the end panel lets you mark sizes by hand or with a sticker so stock is easy to find.
Do you supply tissue paper with clothing boxes?
We make the boxes only. Leave room for your own tissue and we allow for it in the inside height.
Can you size a clothing box to fit a shirt on a backing card?
Yes. Send the backing card size and the folded shirt depth, including the collar, and we cut the box to that.
