Who buys kraft sweet boxes?

Chocolatiers working from a home kitchen or a small shop are the main buyers. So are fudge makers at markets, bakers who sell a few truffles beside the cakes, and wedding planners putting sweets at each place setting.

Brown kraft suits handmade sweets. It looks honest and warm next to foil-wrapped truffles, and it makes a dusting of cocoa look deliberate rather than messy.

Corporate gifting is another steady use. A small box of chocolates with a printed sleeve makes a thank-you that clients remember, and it posts inside a mailer without fuss.

How does a sweet box open and close?

Our sample photo shows a long tray holding two rows of foil-wrapped chocolates, each in a paper case, with a clear window across the top. The tray slides into a sleeve, so the window sits right over the sweets.

A lift-off lid is the other common build. It feels more like a gift box and suits a square nine or twelve piece layout. Both styles close without tape; a printed band or sticker across the join keeps them shut and shows if the box has been opened.

How many sweets fit in each size?

Count the pieces and measure one of them in its paper case. Then decide on the layout: one row, two rows, or a square grid. The box size follows from that.

These starting sizes are based on truffles of around 30 to 35 mm across. Use them as a guide and send your own measurements.

Piece countInside size (mm)Layout
4 pieceAbout 120 × 40 × 40One row of truffles
6 pieceAbout 160 × 90 × 40Two rows of three wrapped chocolates
9 pieceAbout 130 × 130 × 40Three by three grid of pralines
12 pieceAbout 220 × 160 × 40Fudge squares or mixed sweets

Leave a few millimetres around the grid. Chocolates squeezed against the walls get scuffed when the sleeve slides on. Our guide to measuring a kraft box inside size covers clearance in more detail.

Do sweet boxes need a card insert?

If your sweets roll, yes. Round truffles move about in a plain tray and knock their tops off. A card insert with one cell per piece keeps each one where you placed it.

Fudge squares and flat bars usually do not need an insert. They sit snugly in rows and a sheet of paper between layers is enough.

  • Cells cut to the size of your paper cases
  • Inserts in brown kraft to match the box, or white-lined on request
  • Cut-outs that leave room to lift each sweet with a finger
  • A blank card space for a flavour key

Should the lid have a window?

A window does a lot of the selling on a counter. People buy chocolates with their eyes, and a clear panel lets them see the finish, the colours and the number of pieces without opening the box.

A solid lid makes more sense when the box is a surprise, or when the sweets are posted and you want the outside plain. You can still print a picture of the contents on top.

Window size is a balance. A large panel shows more, but leave a border of board around it so the lid keeps its shape and has room for your logo.

Which kraft board suits a sweet box?

Brown kraft folding board is the usual choice. It creases sharply at the corners of a shallow tray, so the box looks neat and square from every side.

Dark chocolates look striking against a pale inside, so white-lined kraft is offered on request. It also gives brighter colour if you print inside the lid.

Keep in mind that bare board can mark if a soft centre or butter fudge touches it directly. Paper cases or a sheet of baking paper under the sweets keep the tray clean.

How does print look on a brown sweet box?

A one-colour logo in black or white ink suits most chocolate brands. White ink on brown board looks especially smart beside dark wrappers.

Gold foil on kraft is an option and catches the light the way foil-wrapped truffles do. Embossing a small mark on the lid is another quiet touch that works without any ink.

Before you request a quote, you can preview your logo in Design Your Box to judge the size on the lid.

How do sweet boxes look on a market stall?

Stack filled boxes three or four high with the windows facing the aisle. A short pile looks plentiful without hiding the sweets in the lower boxes.

Use one size per flavour range and a coloured sticker to mark the flavour. Customers can spot the salted caramel box from a few steps away, and you avoid printing a separate run for every recipe.

Keep spare flat boxes in a clean carton under the table. They take up almost no room and fold in seconds when the stack runs low.

What should you avoid with a sweet box?

  1. Sizing the box to bare sweets and then adding paper cases that do not fit.
  2. Choosing a sleeve that slides too tightly and drags across the chocolates.
  3. Printing ingredients and allergens too small to read on a 40 mm side panel.
  4. Placing the window so the insert walls, not the sweets, are what shows.
  5. Forgetting to leave space on the base or side for a best-before sticker.

Sweet boxes for weddings, Eid and Valentine's Day

A four piece box at each wedding place setting is a favour guests actually eat. Print the couple's initials on the sleeve, or leave it plain and add a name tag.

Eid and Valentine's Day are the busiest times for most chocolate makers. Order your boxes well ahead so the proof, production and delivery fit before the rush.

Mother's Day is the third peak for many makers, and a pale pink spot ink on brown board suits it well.

Can a kraft sweet box have a clear lid?

Yes. The lid or sleeve can have a window backed with clear film, which lets the chocolates show while keeping dust off them.

How many truffles fit in a kraft sweet box?

Any number you choose. Common counts are 4, 6, 9 and 12, and we cut the box to your sweets and layout.

Do you make card inserts for chocolate boxes?

Yes. A card insert with one cell per piece stops round truffles rolling. Send the size of a sweet in its paper case.

Can I print the flavour list inside the lid?

Yes. Inside print is an option, and the underside of a lift-off lid is a good place for a flavour key.

Is a sleeve or a lift-off lid better for chocolates?

A sleeve suits long boxes and slides over a window neatly. A lid suits square boxes and feels more like a gift. Both close without tape.

Can I put fudge in a kraft sweet box?

Yes. Fudge squares sit well in rows and often need no insert. A sheet of paper between layers keeps them apart.

Can I have gold foil on a brown sweet box?

Yes. Foil on kraft is an option for a logo or a small mark, and it suits foil-wrapped chocolates.

Do sweet boxes come with the paper cases?

No. We make the box and any card insert. Measure your sweets in the cases you already use so the cells fit.

Can I order sweet boxes in two piece counts with one design?

Yes. Each piece count gets its own resized layout and its own proof.

How should I seal a sweet box for sale?

A printed band or a round sticker across the join keeps the sleeve or lid closed and shows if the box has been opened.

Will dark chocolate show marks on brown kraft?

Small marks are less obvious on brown than on white. If you want a pale inside, white-lined kraft is available on request.

Can I post chocolates in a kraft sweet box?

Put the sweet box inside a mailer or shipping box for the post. On its own it is made for the counter and for gifting by hand.
