Why print a logo on a kraft mailer?

A plain brown box looks like every other parcel in the sorting office. A printed one tells your customer who it is from before they find the scissors.

Kraft also does a lot of the work for you. The warm brown background means a single ink can carry a whole design, as the black wraparound band and the bold black shapes in our photos show.

A printed mailer also gets photographed. Customers who share an unboxing tend to show the lid and the inside, so those two panels carry most of your brand.

If you would rather start without ink, our plain kraft mailer boxes use the same shape.

How does ink look on brown kraft board?

Ink on kraft is not as bright as ink on white card. The brown shows through lighter colours and pulls them a little darker and warmer.

Dark inks are the safe bet. Black, deep green, navy and dark red all stay crisp. White ink gives a lighter mark that works well for fine line patterns like the ones in our photos.

Our guide to printing on kraft boxes has more photos of each ink.

Should I print inside the mailer lid?

Printing inside is the reason many people choose this box. The lid lifts like the cover of a book, and the underside is the first thing your customer sees.

One of our photos shows a full colour scene printed across the inside of the lid and walls, with a plain brown outside. That keeps the parcel quiet in the post and saves the surprise for later.

A short thank-you line, a care note or a social handle under the lid costs far less ink than covering the outside.

Which parts of the box can carry print?

Each panel sits in a different place on the flat dieline. Our designers place your artwork on each one for you, free, so you only need to send the logo files.

  • Lid top: the main logo spot, read first on the doormat
  • Front tuck panel: a small mark that shows when the lid is closed
  • Side walls: a pattern or a web address
  • Inside lid: a message, a photo or a repeat of the logo
  • Inside base: hidden until the product is lifted out

For bleed, safe zones and file types, see our notes on kraft box artwork and dielines.

What size printed mailer do I need?

Size comes first, artwork second, because the print is placed on panels of a set size. Measure the product or the stack of items, then add room for tissue.

Common starting sizes are about 180 × 130 × 50 mm for small items, 250 × 180 × 80 mm for a folded top, 310 × 230 × 100 mm for sets and 380 × 280 × 120 mm for bulkier orders. These are guidance only; every box is cut to your own inside size.

Which board is used for printed kraft mailers?

Printed mailers use brown kraft corrugated, the same board as our plain mailers. The print goes onto the smooth outer paper of the corrugated sheet.

Want brighter colour inside the lid? Ask for white-lined kraft. Colours printed on a white inside look closer to your screen while the outside stays brown.

Can I add foil, embossing or a window?

Yes, as options. Foil on kraft and embossing or debossing both work on a mailer lid, and they suit a small logo better than a large one.

Die-cut windows, with or without film, are possible on the lid. Card or corrugated inserts can hold products in place under a printed lid.

What artwork mistakes show up most on kraft?

Most problems come from designing on a white screen and forgetting the board is brown.

  • Pale greys and pastels that almost vanish on brown board
  • Thin white lines too fine for white ink to cover cleanly
  • Text placed across a fold, where it bends out of view
  • A logo sent as a small web image instead of a vector file

Every order gets a free design proof with unlimited edits, so we flag these before anything is printed.

Is one colour enough for a printed mailer?

For most small brands, yes. One ink on brown kraft looks deliberate, because the board itself acts as a second colour. The bold black shapes and the line patterns in our photos are each a single ink.

One colour also keeps the proof simple. There is no colour matching across inks, and a logo that works in black on brown usually works in white on brown too.

Two colours make sense when your logo depends on an accent, or when you want a coloured strapline under a black mark. Full colour earns its place inside the lid, where a picture or illustration has room.

How long do printed mailers take to arrive?

Timing starts when you approve the proof, not when you first ask. Most of the waiting is usually in getting the artwork right, so send your files early.

After approval the printed mailers take 4–6 business days to make. They then travel to you on free tracked delivery, which reaches UK addresses in 2–3 business days.

Working to a launch date? Mention it on your request. We will say on the quote whether the date works.

How do I order printed kraft mailer boxes?

  1. Tell us the inside size, how many you need and which faces carry print.
  2. Attach your logo, ideally as a vector file, or a rough sketch of the layout.
  3. Read your written quote, with printed mailers priced from £0.25 per box.
  4. Check the free proof on the flat dieline and request any edits you need.
  5. Approve the proof and we start production.
  6. Unpack your mailers and fold the first one to check the fit.

Start with a written quote for printed mailers. If any arrive with a print fault or damage, send photos within 10 days and we put it right with a reprint or a refund.

Your question is not here?Ask on WhatsApp+44 7578 382054
Can I print just one colour on a kraft mailer?

Yes. One colour is the most common choice on kraft, and black on brown gives the clearest result. You can add a second colour later on the same dieline.

Will my brand colour match exactly on brown board?

Not exactly. Brown board shifts colours warmer and darker. We show the expected shade on your proof, and if the colour must be truer we can use white-lined kraft on request.

Can the inside of a printed mailer be a different design from the outside?

Yes. Outside and inside are separate print sides, so you can keep the outside to a small logo and fill the inside lid with colour.

Do I need a designer to set up my mailer artwork?

No. Send your logo and a note of where it goes, and our designers place it on the dieline free with unlimited edits.

Can I print a pattern that wraps around all sides?

Yes. A wraparound pattern is laid across every outer panel on the flat sheet, and we line it up at the folds on the proof.

Does white ink cover brown kraft fully?

White ink gives a light, slightly soft mark on brown. It looks best on bold shapes and medium to large type rather than tiny text.

Can I change the design on a reorder of printed mailers?

Yes. Send the new artwork and we prepare a fresh proof on the same dieline before the reorder is printed.

Can I order two designs of printed mailer in one order?

Yes. Tell us the quantity of each design and we list them separately on your written quote.

Is printing inside a mailer more expensive than outside?

Inside print adds a print side, so it changes the price. A small inside message usually costs less than full outside coverage, and your quote shows both.

What file should I send for a mailer logo?

A vector file such as PDF, AI, EPS or SVG is best. A large PNG works for full colour artwork. See our Design Your Box logo preview to test a file on a photo first.

Can you print a QR code on a kraft mailer?

Yes. Keep it dark on brown and at a decent size so phones can read it. We check its size and placement on the proof.

Are printed mailers delivered with the print scuffed?

They are packed flat in bundles to protect the faces. Any print damaged on arrival is covered if you report it within 10 days with photos.
